Suni Sonqo Vizcarra Wood (Indigenous Quechua Nation of the Andes) is a multidisciplinary artist from the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cusco, Peru, born in Taos, NM. He is a filmmaker, musician, and primarily a sculptor. Suni’s life has taken place immersed in his rich culture of Andean pre-Columbian tradition and is part of an active international network of Nations dedicated to cultivating ancestral roots and building an Indigenous future, which inspires his artistic expressions.

Suni studied sculpture at the National Art University Diego Quispe Tito in Cusco, Perú and the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA), Santa Fe, NM where he received his BFA in December 2021. Suni is currently getting his MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) with a focus in sculpture. Suni won Tribal College Journal (TCJ) first-place film awards, TCJ first-place digital art, and several IAIA and AIHEC awards. Suni was featured twice in Trend magazine, and participated in art shows at Lightwell Gallery, Oklahoma; Balzer Contemporary Edge Gallery, Santa Fe, NM; Zatara Contemporary Gallery, Canyon Road, Santa Fe, NM; International Folk Art Market (IFAM), Santa Fe, NM; Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA), Santa Fe, NM; SITE Santa Fe, NM; HAZ Cooperative Studios, Chicago, IL; SAIC Open Studio Show, Chicago, IL; He continuously participates in various panels, intercultural exchanges, and artist talks nationally and internationally.
